_President Luis Abinader announced this Wednesday night to the entire country that all restrictions imposed by Covid-19 will be lifted.
President Luis Abinader announced Wednesday night to the entire country that all restrictive measures imposed by Covid-19 are suspended, and that from now on it will be up to all of us to take care of ourselves, with responsibility, but without restrictions.
“Measures such as the use of the mask, the need to present the vaccination card to access all places, or restrictions in public spaces, today, are the individual responsibility of each one of us. After this long battle, we are recovering freedom”, said the President.

He said that the country deserves and needs an emotional recovery and to leave behind the measures that had to be imposed for a time that is already past. The head of state offered this information through an address to the nation, transmitted by different media of the country.
Notwithstanding this announcement, the President assured he will continue to voluntarily invite the population to get vaccinated in order to complete the vaccination program and continue guaranteeing full access to the vaccine for all and in all circumstances.
“We will continue to monitor and observe the situation. I can also assure the country that, unlike in the past, our health system is today prepared to deal with any eventuality,” assured President Abinader.
During his speech, the president affirmed that the government did what it had to do to protect the people “and time has proven us right in our actions against the pandemic. We put ourselves at the forefront, we bet on contracting the greatest variety of vaccines, we applied innovative treatments and we were among the first in the world to propose a third dose, despite the lack of faith of a few”.
The Head of State thanked the doctors, nurses and all the health personnel, the military and police, and the business owners who provided human and economic resources for the cause.
“Thanks, above all, to the millions of Dominicans who complied with the measures and went to get vaccinated. Thanks to all this, we have overcome the worst of the pandemic: today the daily infections and those of the last four weeks are in sharp decline, we have one of the lowest mortality rates in the world and a very low hospital occupancy rate,” said the President.
